Need help choosing? How to measure windshield height Tap to view — takes 10 seconds
Windshield measurement guide Tap to enlarge

1. Sit on your bike in normal riding position.

2. Look straight ahead — not up or down.

3. With a level or something flat, draw a line from the tip of your nose to over your bike dash. You can also look straight ahead and choose the measurement you are looking directly at.

Tip: Not sure? Ask us before ordering — we’ll verify your setup.

Most riders choose Medium Tint for the best balance of comfort, looks, and visibility.
What Height Do Most Riders Choose?
Most riders want to look over the windshield, not through it. That’s the biggest factor when choosing height. You’re not trying to hide behind the shield — you’re trying to stay comfortable while keeping a clear view of the road.
If You Want More Comfort
Go slightly taller. This pushes more wind over your head and reduces fatigue on longer rides, especially on the highway or with a passenger.
If You Want A Lower Look
Go slightly shorter. You’ll get a cleaner, more aggressive look and still benefit from the AirCurve, but you may feel a bit more wind depending on your setup.
Between Sizes?
Most riders lean toward the option that matches how they ride. Long-distance touring riders usually go a bit taller, while shorter rides or city riders often stay lower.
What Is AirCurve?
Freedom’s AirCurve is what makes these windshields ride different, not just look different. The recurve at the top helps drive airflow about 2–3 inches higher than a standard windshield so you get cleaner air, less buffeting, and a more comfortable ride without needing to go overly tall.
Better View Without Giving Up Comfort
Because the airflow is lifted higher, many riders can run a shorter windshield and still stay comfortable. That gives you a better view over the top without sacrificing real-world wind protection.
More Stability And Strength
Freedom Shields are thicker than stock and many aftermarket options, which helps with stability at speed and gives the shield a more solid feel on the bike.
Clearer, Better Finished
You get crystal-clear optical clarity, hand-polished edges, and a cleaner finished look than the cheap distorted shields riders get tired of fighting with.
Exchange & Test Ride Policy
You do not need to guess and hope. Your windshield arrives with protective film on both sides. Leave that film on, install the windshield, and take a short test ride as long as visibility is good. That gives you a real-world feel before fully committing.
Exchanges
The original purchaser can exchange for a different size for full credit on the windshield, as long as it is still in new condition, the protective film has not been removed, and it is returned in the original box with the original packaging.
Returns
Windshields can also be returned for full credit of the windshield under the same conditions. First exchage is on us as long as you speak with us before ordering. Return shipping is the buyer’s responsibility, and a UPS return label can be provided inside the continental U.S. for $25, deducted from the refund.
Important Notes
Laser-engraved windshields are custom and cannot be exchanged or returned. For exchanges or returns, Return Authorization is required first through Freedom Shields before shipping anything back.
Which Tint Should I Choose?
Most riders choose Medium Tint. It gives you the most balanced look on the bike while still keeping visibility practical for normal day riding. Tint choice is mostly about looks and personal preference, not airflow.
Clear
Best if you want the brightest view through the shield or prefer the most open, factory-style look.
Light Tint
A subtle smoked look without going too dark. Good for riders who want a little style while keeping visibility very easy.
Dark Tint
Best for riders who want the darkest, most aggressive look. Choose this more for style than versatility.

Cleaner Airflow for the Long Miles

Direct fit for the 2026–up Street Glide Limited and CVO Street Glide Limited factory tall windshield mounts.

The right windshield height depends on your seated position and how you want to see the road. Freedom Shields offers seven height choices, a wider upper profile, and its AirCurve® recurve to help calm the air around you and your passenger.

This windshield mounts directly to the factory tall windshield mounting system on these models. No additional mounting bracket or conversion kit is required.

Why Riders Choose Freedom Shields

The AirCurve® recurve directs airflow approximately 2–3 inches higher than a conventional windshield. That can let you look over a shorter shield while retaining useful highway wind protection. The upper section is also wider than Freedom Shields’ standard Street Glide design, providing more coverage for the rider and passenger.

Each windshield is handcrafted in the USA from high-impact modified acrylic. Freedom Shields builds it thicker than many aftermarket alternatives to reduce flex, then finishes the edges by hand for a clean appearance.

  • AirCurve® recurve for cleaner airflow and less helmet turbulence
  • Wider upper profile for rider and passenger coverage
  • Seven sizes from 10 to 16 inches
  • Excellent optical clarity and high-gloss, hand-polished edges
  • UV protection and Rain-X compatibility
  • Five-year material warranty

Confirm Your Fitment

Fits These Models
  • 2026–up Harley-Davidson Street Glide Limited
  • 2026–up Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide Limited

These models use the factory tall windshield mounts. This listing is not for a standard Street Glide with factory short windshield mounts unless that motorcycle has been converted to the compatible Harley tall mounting system. Confirm your exact year, model, and mounting setup before ordering.

Choose the Height From Your Riding Position

Your height and inseam alone cannot tell you which windshield to buy. Your seat, posture, and preferred line of sight change where the top edge sits when you are actually riding.

If You Prefer to Look Over the Windshield

Start by measuring for a top edge near the tip of your nose while seated normally. This gives you a clear view over the shield while allowing the AirCurve® to direct airflow higher.

If You Prefer to Look Through the Windshield

For more coverage, the top edge can sit approximately two inches above your normal line of sight. Consider how rain or dirt on the windshield may affect visibility with a taller setup.

How to Measure

The advertised 10–16 inch size is measured along the front center surface of the windshield, from the base to the top edge. To choose your height, use the vertical measurement chart in the product images. Measure straight up from the flat area of the dash in front of the vent to your preferred top-edge position, then compare that measurement with the chart.

If you are between sizes or unsure how to measure, contact us before ordering. We’ll help you work through the measurement rather than guess from rider height.

Tint Choices

Available tints vary by size. Tint changes appearance and light transmission; it does not change fitment. Clear and lighter options are easier to see through at night, in rain, and in low light. A darker tint is best considered when the windshield stays below your direct line of sight.

Installation

Install the windshield on the factory tall windshield mounts using the appropriate existing hardware. No additional bracket or conversion kit is required for the listed Limited models. Confirm that the shield is aligned and all mounting hardware is secure before riding.

Built to Order and Shipping

Your Freedom Shields windshield is handcrafted in the USA after the order is placed.

  • Free shipping within the continental United States
  • Estimated build time before shipment: 3–12 business days
  • Tracking emailed when the windshield ships

Production can take longer during peak riding season. If you have a trip deadline, contact us before ordering so we can discuss the current timing.

Check the Fit Before Removing the Film

Your windshield arrives with protective film on both sides. Leave the film in place while you install it and check height, line of sight, and fit. You may take a short test ride with the film on if visibility remains safe and unobstructed.

If the height is not right, contact us before returning it. An eligible windshield can be exchanged or returned while it remains like new and the original film has not been removed. We’ll guide you through the process and cover shipping on your first eligible size exchange. Original shipping charges may not be refundable on a return.

Completely Eliminated the Buffeting

I was dealing with constant helmet shake and wind pressure on the highway. After installing the Freedom Shield, it was a night-and-day difference. The buffeting is basically gone and the air now flows smoothly over my head. I can finally ride at highway speeds without feeling beat up.

Way Less Wind Noise — Can Hear My Music Again

The biggest difference for me was the wind noise. With my stock windshield, it was loud and exhausting. With the Freedom Shield, everything is calmer. I can actually hear my speakers and ride longer without fatigue.

Shorter Shield — Better Results

I went with a shorter shield than I expected and it works better than my taller stock one. I can see over it clearly, and the air still goes right over my helmet. It’s cleaner airflow, not just blocking wind.

Should Have Done This Sooner

This is one of those upgrades you don’t realize you need until you ride with it. The difference in comfort is huge. No more constant wind pressure or fighting the bike on long rides. I wish I would have done this years ago.
