Machined in Illinois
Super Shox says its metal components are CNC machined from aircraft-quality 6061 aluminum. Its gas-assisted monotube design uses deflective-disc valving, a separated gas chamber and spherical bearing mounts.
SUPER SHOX · MADE IN GRAYSLAKE, ILLINOIS
A motorcycle model tells Super Shox where the shocks fit. Your weight, passenger, Tour Pak, luggage and riding style tell them what the suspension has to support. That is why the completed set is configured after your order is reviewed.
USA manufactured & assembled · Rider-specific spring selection · Dyno tested
THE SHORT ANSWER
Super Shox manufactures, assembles and tests its motorcycle shocks in Grayslake, Illinois. Dreaded Iron reviews your bike and rider information before production. Super Shox configures the selected shock platform for the application and load, hand-assembles the set, dyno tests each shock against its valving requirements, records the serial number, and ships the completed order. The current estimated build-to-ship window at Dreaded Iron is 3–12 business days for standard configurations.
INSIDE THE BUILD
These are the documented construction and setup decisions behind the shock. Rider-specific configuration and assembly follow the order review.
Super Shox says its metal components are CNC machined from aircraft-quality 6061 aluminum. Its gas-assisted monotube design uses deflective-disc valving, a separated gas chamber and spherical bearing mounts.
Different loads call for different spring rates. The bike, rider, passenger and regular touring weight inform the selected configuration; the numbered preload collar then allows adjustment as the load changes.
Super Shox says every completed shock is dyno tested, serial numbered and recorded. Its valving performance must meet the company's quality requirements before the shock is ready to ship.

THE SHIPPING QUESTION
Built to order does not mean backordered. The normal lead time is the estimated window for order review, rider-specific configuration, assembly and testing before shipment. It is not an estimate of carrier transit time. Special finishes, demand or missing setup information can change the timeline; the product page or order update gives the current estimate.
Bike year/model, rider and passenger weights, Tour Pak, gear and two-up use.
Dreaded Iron reviews missing or inconsistent details and contacts you when something needs correction.
The selected platform is configured, hand-assembled and dyno tested in Grayslake.
Once the completed shocks leave the facility, tracking is sent. Carrier travel happens after the build window.
CHOOSE THE PLATFORM FIRST
Choose the application and suspension approach first, then provide the load information for the build.
Our default for Street Glide, Road Glide, Road King, Ultra and other supported two-wheel Touring bikes, especially with luggage, two-up riding or rough roads. LT adds usable travel through its relocation setup.
Explore SR2 → HARLEY THREE-WHEELTri Glide, Freewheeler, Road Glide 3 and Street Glide 3 applications follow the SR1 path. The correct configuration still depends on rider and load.
Explore SR1 → MAXIMUM ADJUSTMENTRemote reservoirs and external damping adjustment for riders who want more control over suspension response.
Explore RR1 →LT versus SL: LT is the long-travel relocation setup on supported two-wheel applications. SL uses the traditional stock mounting location. LT does not promise one fixed seat-height change; confirm the application and your height goal before ordering.
WHAT THE PRICE PAYS FOR
Premium parts alone cannot fix a shock that does not match the bike and the load. The value here is the combination of American machining and assembly, spring and valving choices, individual testing, and a rider-profile review before the build goes forward.
We help you identify the platform, review the information you submit and reach out when fitment or load details do not make sense. That is the decision support we believe a suspension purchase deserves.
QUICK ANSWERS
Yes. Super Shox states that its components are manufactured and its motorcycle shocks assembled and tested at its Grayslake, Illinois facility.
No. The standard estimate reflects rider-specific configuration, assembly and testing after order review. A separate supply delay or special configuration can extend that estimate, so check the current product page for timing.
Your motorcycle year and model, rider weight, passenger weight, Tour Pak, typical gear load, how often you ride two-up and how you usually ride. We use these details to review the order before the build is submitted.

CONFIDENCE BEFORE COMMITTING
Your shocks are built after your rider and bike information is reviewed.
Built to order in the USA rather than pulled from a warehouse shelf.
Each set is dyno tested before it leaves Super Shox to verify performance before it reaches your bike.
