Freewheeler: it has no fairing, so there is no Freedom Shields windshield we sell for it. Not sure which fairing you have? Use the Ask a Rider button at the top of the page and we'll check before you order. Shop all four shields below ↓
A trike carries a big batwing or fixed fairing. When the shield sends air into your helmet, you get buffeting, noise and a sore neck by the second hour. The goal isn't a taller wall. It's air that clears you.
Freedom Shields' AirCurve recurve drives airflow 2–3" higher than a standard windshield. That's why many riders can run a shorter shield and still get clean air over the top.
Freedom Shields are about 30% thicker than the stock windshield, which means less flex and vibration at highway speed.
Width matters as much as height for a passenger. A wider shield spreads air farther to the sides, off your arms and shoulders and around the passenger.
Height is the decision that matters most, and it depends on how you sit, not just how tall you are. Freedom Shields gives two starting points:
Set the top edge level with the tip of your nose. That leaves about 2" to see over when you look straight ahead, and the wind should clear the top of your head.
Set the top edge about 2" above your line of sight. You get the most protection for you and your passenger, but it gets harder to see through when the shield is wet or dirty.
On a tall shield, put blue painter's tape across it at different heights and take a short ride. On a short shield, tape cardboard on at different sizes and take a slow ride.
Sit on the trike in your normal riding position and measure up from the top of the dash, then match that number to the height chart on your trike's Freedom Shields product page (Tri Glide, Street Glide 3). Each page has the measuring steps for that model. The listed size is measured on the front center of the shield: from the top of the fairing on the Tri Glide, and from the base on the Street Glide 3.
A new seat changes where your eyes sit, so it changes your height. Re-check before you order.
Every shield ships with protective film on both sides. Mount it, take a short test ride with the film on, and if the height is wrong, it stays returnable within 30 days.

Wider shields move more air off your arms, shoulders and passenger. Taller aftermarket handlebars are the main reason to stay narrower.
The same width at the base as the stock windshield, with the recurve up top. It keeps more of the stock look.
About 3" wider on each side at the base, over the inner fairing, and about 2" wider on each side going up. It's quieter and gets more wind around the passenger. Freedom Shields notes it may not fit with taller aftermarket handlebars.
Touring is wider across the upper corners for the most coverage. Sport Touring is trimmed about 2" narrower on each side and gives better clearance for taller handlebars.
Running taller bars, or planning to? Read our KST handlebar height and fitment guide before you pick a width.
Tint changes looks and light, not fitment. The four options are Clear, Light Grey, Medium Grey and Dark Grey.
Clear and the lighter tints give the best visibility at night, in rain and in low light.
Darker tints work best when the shield sits below your direct line of sight.

“I received my windshield for my 2018 Tri-Glide, I went with a 11″ touring width in clear, and all I can say is Holy Cow my bike feels like I can ride it for days on end now. No more buffeting, I can hear my stereo and my head is no longer getting sucked off my shoulders by my helmet. My batwing fairing now feels like I always thought it should.”

For looking over the shield, Freedom Shields suggests setting the top edge level with the tip of your nose, which leaves about 2" to see over. For looking through it, set the top edge about 2" above your line of sight. If you're between sizes, ask us and we'll check it with you before you order.
Standard keeps the stock base width and look. Touring is about 3" wider on each side at the base and about 2" wider going up, so it moves more wind off your arms, shoulders and passenger.
It can. Freedom Shields notes the Tri Glide Touring style may not fit with taller aftermarket handlebars. On a 2015–2023 Road Glide 3, the Sport Touring style is about 2" narrower on each side and gives better clearance for taller bars.
