“Stage 1” isn’t a part number. On a 2024–2026 Road Glide or Street Glide, the order you do things in matters more than the label.
On the new Glides, the tuner is decided by the bike’s ECU, and some parts that fit earlier Milwaukee-Eights don’t fit these bikes. Here’s how to work out the order and the fitment before you spend money.
2024–2026 Road Glide and Street Glide owners with the Milwaukee-Eight 117 (the Gen 2 engine). If you ride a 2017–2023 bike, the parts list is different. Start with Which Tuner Do I Need?
“Stage” is a shop label, not a spec
There’s no industry standard for “Stage 1.” Two names you’ll see on our own site use it differently:
- Dynojet names the PV4-15-04 tunes by parts: “Stage 1 (stock improved),” “Stage 2 (Slip-On Exhaust + High Flow Intake)” and “Stage 3 (Full Exhaust + High Flow Intake).”
- TAB Performance uses “Stage 1” for a kit with exhaust, a Hi-Flo intake and a tuner, and “Stage 2” for a cam, valvetrain, injectors, tuner and exhaust.
So the same words can mean a tune-only change or a cam job. In this guide we use Dynojet’s naming, because that’s what your tuner will show you. When anyone quotes you a “stage,” ask what parts are in it.
Start with the tuner, because your ECU decides it
On a 2024+ Street Glide 117 or Road Glide 117, the tuner family is the Dynojet Power Vision 4 PV4-15-04, built for the G26 ECU. Dynojet’s list also covers 2023.5–2026 CVO models and bikes with ECU part number 41001165 or 41001350 and newer. As our product page puts it, PV4-15-04 is “based on the motorcycle’s G26 ECU platform, not simply engine displacement or model year.”
What it does: it connects by Bluetooth to the Power Vision app, flashes the factory ECU, logs data, reads and clears trouble codes, and backs up your stock calibration first. It doesn’t have to stay plugged in after the flash.
What to know before you buy: the PV-2B in older kits stops at 2020 bikes, and the PV4-15-03 doesn’t cover the 2024+ 117. The PV4-15-04 is the one for these bikes. Per TAB, its Bluetooth connection is Apple-only. Which features work on your exact bike is something we confirm before you order.
If you want the background on AutoTune with stock O2 sensors, read AutoTune Explained. Tune availability also depends on your exact bike and parts. A heavily modified engine may need a custom calibration.
Dynojet “Stage 2”: slip-ons, intake and a tune
This is where most touring riders get what they’re after: better sound, a cleaner pull, and a tune that matches the parts.
- Slip-ons that fit 2024+ Glides: TAB lists the Redline 4.5" slip-ons and the 4.5" B.A.M. Stick for 2017-up FL Touring, which includes the 2024+ Street Glide and Road Glide. Neither fits trikes. On a trike, TAB’s trike-style B.A.M. Sticks are the ones that fit: B.A.M. Sticks for 2017+ Tri Glide, Freewheeler and Road Glide 3, or B.A.M. Sticks for 2009–2016 trikes. On a 2026 trike, confirm with us first.
- Tune it: TAB recommends an EFI tune with its slip-ons. That’s the PV4-15-04 on these bikes.
- Intake: our current TAB intake listing is for 2017–2023 bikes and doesn’t fit Gen 2. Ask us about a Gen 2–compatible intake before you order one.
Sound is personal. If you’re still choosing a tone, Touring Upgrade Compass: Exhaust and Best Exhaust for Harley Touring cover it.
Dynojet “Stage 3”: a full exhaust
A full system replaces the headers too. TAB lists the Redline 2-1 for 2017-up Milwaukee-Eight Touring (not trikes). On a 2024+ Street Glide or Road Glide, confirm header and O2 sensor fit with us before you order. TAB sells it for off-road and race use, and it isn’t EPA compliant. Know that before you build around it.
A 2-1 makes the most sense if you’re planning more power later. If you’re happy with how the bike pulls, slip-ons and a good tune may be all you need. Torque Matters More Than Horsepower explains why.
Cams and beyond: where 2024+ owners need to slow down
This is where most buying mistakes happen on the new Glides. Parts built for the 2017–2023 engine don’t carry over. These don’t fit a 2024+ Street Glide or Road Glide 117:
- Zippers Red Shift 468 cam kit: made for the Gen 1 107/114/117.
- TAB M8 Touring Stage 1 Kit: 2017–2020, and its PV-2B tuner stops at 2020. A 2024+ 117 needs the PV4-15-04.
- TAB Zombie Breath intake: 2017–2023 Gen 1 only.
TAB Redline Stage 2 Kit: TAB lists it for factory non-VVT 117 and 121 engines. Our listing is the 121 version, and its preloaded tune is stated for the 121 only, so if you ride a 117, confirm with us before ordering.
Gen 2 cams: for a stock 2024+ Street Glide or Road Glide 117 (non-VVT), Zippers’ Red Shift RS528 is the Gen 2 cam to look at. Zippers says it isn’t for VVT engines, so it’s not for the CVO Street Glide or CVO Road Glide 121. Any cam change needs a proper EFI calibration, and possibly a custom tune. Ask us first and we’ll tell you straight what it involves.
Where we come in
Send us your year, exact model, ECU part number if you know it, and anything already changed. We’ll confirm the tuner family and whether the parts fit before you order, so you don’t buy something twice.
Rider questions
Is “Stage 1” the same at every shop?
No. Dynojet’s Stage 1 is a tune for a stock bike. TAB’s Stage 1 kit is exhaust, intake and a tuner. Ask what parts are included.
Which Power Vision does a 2024+ Road Glide or Street Glide need?
The PV4-15-04 family for the G26 ECU. Pick by ECU, not by model year or cubic inches. Which Tuner Do I Need? walks through it.
Can I put my old Gen 1 cam or intake on a 2024+ bike?
Usually not. The Zippers 468, Zombie Breath intake and TAB Stage 1 kit are Gen 1 parts. Check with us before you move any engine part across.
Do slip-ons need a tune on a 2024+ Glide?
TAB recommends an EFI tune with its slip-ons. On these bikes that means a PV4-15-04.
The bottom line
Order matters: tuner family first, then slip-ons and intake, then a full system, then internals. Most touring riders get what they want from the first two steps.
Before you buy pipes or a tuner for a 2024-or-newer Glide, send us your year, exact model and whatever’s already been changed. We’ll confirm which Power Vision your ECU needs and which TAB parts fit, then lay out a sensible order so you don’t buy something twice.
