Rider Guide · Handlebars
If you rode a 2015-2023 Road Glide or Street Glide and moved to the new bike, your handlebar habits don't carry over. The bar height that felt right before may sit taller now, the clutch side works differently between the two models, and wiring parts built for the older bikes won't fit.
None of this is hard once you know it. You just want to know it before you order, not halfway through the install with the fairing off.
What Changed in 2024
Stock bar heights, per KST Kustoms:
- 2024-2026 Road Glide: 10" stock bars.
- Street Glide: 8" stock bars.
The big one is the Road Glide. KST says the 2024-2026 riser sits about 2.5" higher than on the 2015-2023 bikes. So:
| Bar on a 2024-2026 Road Glide | Sits like this on a 2015-2023 |
|---|---|
| 10" | 12" |
| 12" | 14" |
| 14" | Taller than a 14" |
If you loved 12s on your old Road Glide, a 10" on the new one may get you the same feel. Don't reorder the old number out of habit.
Bars are also model-specific now. Batwing bars built for 2014-2023 don't fit the 2023 CVO or 2024-2026 Street Glide, and the same goes for the old Road Glide bars on the new bike.
Road Glide: When You Need a Clutch Extension
KST's install notes for its 2024-2026 Road Glide bars:
- 10" and 12": stock brake, clutch and electrical.
- 14": needs a clutch extension. The brake line stays stock.
- CVO ST with KST's 3" risers: a 12" bar needs a clutch extension too.
On our Spearhead and Pathfinder listings, the 14" pre-wired option comes with KST's 4" clutch extension included ($719.95). The Pioneer offers pre-wired with the clutch extension at 12" or 14" ($669.95), which covers the CVO ST riser case. If you're not sure which applies to your bike, ask us before you order and we'll sort out the clutch side with you. For the KST Road Glide heights and shapes side by side, see our 2024-2026 Road Glide KST handlebar page.
Street Glide: The Upper Clutch Cable Question
The Street Glide works differently. On KST's bars for the 2024-2026 Street Glide, brake line and electrical stay at stock length, but the upper clutch cable is usually the limit:
- KST Bison Bagger, 12" and 14": needs an extended upper clutch cable.
- KST Patriot Bagger, 10": can reuse the stock upper cable, but you have to bend its formed casing by hand so the fairing goes back together. 12" and 14" need the new cable.
- KST Reduced Reach: needs the upper clutch cable.
KST's upper cable is a quick-connect design that joins the existing lower cable, so you don't drain the transmission fluid. It's made in the USA by Magnum Shielding and comes in 10"-12" and 14"-16" versions.
That's why our KST Bison Bagger for 2024-2026 Street Glide (and the Patriot and Reduced Reach for the same bikes) comes four ways:
- Complete Setup (upper clutch cable plus pre-wired), $705
- Pre-wired only, for riders who already have the cable, $555
- Cable only, for riders who want to do the wiring themselves, $555
- Bar only, $405, for riders who already have both the cable and the wiring sorted
Patriot for 2024-2026 Street Glide: same four options at the same prices. Reduced Reach for 2024-2026 Street Glide: $525 Complete Setup, $375 pre-wired only or cable only, $225 bar only.
What "Pre-Wired" Should Mean on the New Bikes
We push pre-wired for a reason: pulling harnesses through tight bends is where bar swaps go sideways. But the word gets used loosely, so know what you're buying.
For the 2024-2026 Road Glide and Street Glide, KST's pre-wire option extends the electrical harness to work with bars up to 16" tall and routes it through the bar before it ships. When it arrives, you plug in the switch controls and plug the harness into the bike.
What pre-wired does not cover:
- The clutch cable or clutch extension (see above).
- The brake line, if your height needs one.
- Removing the old bars, moving your controls and grips, and checking routing lock to lock.
Whoever you buy from, ask:
- Which harnesses are already routed inside the bar?
- How tall a bar is the harness built for?
- Is the clutch side included, or separate?
- Is it actually made for 2024 and newer?
That last one matters. KST's older Pre-Wired Bundle for 2014-2023 bikes (switch harnesses installed plus pull wires) won't fit the 2023 CVO or the 2024+ Street Glide and Road Glide, per KST. Other makers handle pre-wiring differently too. Factory 47, for example, sells it as a separate add-on that has to be ordered with one of their bars.
Pick by Reach, Not Just Height
Height is only one number. Pullback, width and wrist angle decide where your hands land. Before you choose a rise, sit on the bike in your normal position and notice whether your hands want to be higher, closer or narrower. Our KST handlebar height and fitment guide walks through that comfort check. We don't size bars by your height or inseam.
Trikes and the 2023 CVO
- 2026 Street Glide 3 and Road Glide 3: KST lists its upper clutch cable for all 2026 touring models, trikes included. Trikes also have a right-hand reverse and start switch circuit, so ask us before ordering a pre-wired bar. Send us your year and model, and we'll confirm the wiring will work with your trike before you order.
- 2023 CVO Road Glide or Street Glide: KST designs its new-platform bars for the 2023 CVO as well. Check with us before ordering so we match the right parts.

FAQ
Will my 2015-2023 Road Glide bars fit my 2025 Road Glide?
No. The 2024-2026 Road Glide needs bars built for that platform.
Do I need a longer clutch cable for 12" bars on a 2024 Street Glide?
On the KST Bison and Patriot, yes: KST says 12" and 14" need the extended upper clutch cable. The Patriot 10" can reuse the stock cable if you bend it by hand.
Do I need a clutch extension on a 2025 Road Glide?
Per KST, only at 14", or at 12" on a CVO ST with KST's 3" risers. 10" and 12" keep the stock clutch.
Does pre-wired mean plug and play?
It covers the electrical side. You still swap controls, handle any clutch parts, and check routing through full lock.
