Road Glides with more than 200 horsepower, racing on MotoGP weekends. Here’s what the Bagger World Cup actually is.
Harley just made this series its premier racing program. What it is, how it runs, what changes in 2027, and how those race bikes compare to the one in your garage.
What the Bagger World Cup is
Harley calls it “the first global championship exclusively dedicated to high-performance Harley-Davidson bagger motorcycles.” H-D organizes it in partnership with MotoGP, and the FIM officially recognizes it. Harley describes the bikes as race-prepared Road Glides.
How it runs alongside MotoGP
The World Cup is a support series at selected MotoGP weekends in North America and Europe, with two races per weekend. The 2026 calendar had six rounds:
- Austin: March 27–29
- Mugello: May 29–31
- Assen: June 26–28
- Silverstone: August 7–9
- Aragón: August 28–30
- Red Bull Ring: September 18–20
Archie McDonald (Joe Rascal Racing) won the first title with 202 points from 12 races, nine points ahead of Oscar Gutierrez (NITI Racing).
The season “exceeded our expectations,” with “five different race winners, every team on the podium and a championship fight that went all the way to the final round.”Jeffrey Schuessler, Harley-Davidson
What Harley announced on October 1, 2026
Starting in 2027, H-D “will invest to grow the FIM Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup as the company’s premier racing platform.” Harley says it will add teams, riders and races in 2027, with “further details on the expanded lineup and schedule” to come “in the coming months.” H-D also describes the series as a development and demonstration platform for future motorcycles and “race-derived Screamin’ Eagle performance products.”
The same release ended Harley’s factory effort in MotoAmerica King of the Baggers after 2026. We covered that separately: Harley Is Leaving King of the Baggers.
Race bikes vs. what you can buy
H-D describes the World Cup bikes as “race-prepared Road Glide motorcycles” with a Milwaukee-Eight 131R race-modified engine, bespoke chassis and suspension, advanced braking and electronics, serious weight reduction and aero work. Harley says they make over 200 horsepower and approach 300 km/h (186 mph).
Your Road Glide has a different job. It carries a passenger, full bags and a Tour-Pak, and it’s expected to do 500-mile days without wearing you out. The race bike is built to do one thing for a few laps.
What could cross over: Harley says race-derived Screamin’ Eagle parts. It hasn’t announced specific products yet.
- The 2027 schedule, teams and number of rounds: Harley says details will come in the coming months.
- Who supplies the race bikes’ suspension: H-D only says “bespoke chassis and suspension systems.”
Adjustable control for real miles
This part has nothing to do with the World Cup. It’s about the bike you ride every weekend.
Super Shox started in 1997 building aluminum mono-tube gas shocks for sprint cars and midgets. RR1 is the race-derived top of their touring line, and it isn’t connected to Harley-Davidson or its racing.
- Adjustable compression damping: dual 8-position compression adjusters, a broader tuning range than SR1 or SR2. The remote adjusters sit near the passenger footpeg.
- Built around you: each set is configured for rider weight, passenger use, luggage load, bike setup and riding style.
- Fitment: listed for Road Glide (2002 to current) and Street Glide (2006 to current).
The honest version: for most two-wheel touring riders, SR2 is where we start. Pick RR1 when you’ll actually use the adjusters. Trikes use SR1.

Is the Bagger World Cup the same as King of the Baggers?
No. King of the Baggers is a MotoAmerica series. The Bagger World Cup is Harley’s own FIM-recognized championship that runs with MotoGP.
Where can I watch it?
It runs on selected MotoGP weekends. Check MotoGP.com for coverage once the 2027 schedule is out.
Will there be more U.S. rounds in 2027?
Unknown. Harley says more races are coming, but hasn’t published the schedule.
The bottom line
The Bagger World Cup is now Harley’s main racing stage, and it’s getting bigger in 2027. We’ll update this post when H-D publishes the lineup and schedule.
Watching 200-horsepower Road Glides at MotoGP is a blast. Your bike has a different job: a passenger, a full Tour-Pak and a lot of highway. If you want suspension you can adjust as the load and the road change, tell us what you ride and how you load it. We’ll tell you straight whether RR1 earns its place or SR2 already covers it. Talk to us or see RR1.
