Choose Your 50 Cal Setup

Maximum Rear-End Presence With Your Choice of Sound

TAB Performance 50 Cals use a 4.5-inch muffler body that expands to a massive 5-inch outlet. Choose your model year first, then select the tip and baffle combination that matches how loud you want the bike.

Best starting point for most riders: Choose the 2.5-inch louvered baffles for a deep, aggressive sound with more controlled highway volume. Choose Zombie when maximum volume is the priority.
Most Important Choice Which Baffle Should I Choose? Compare controlled touring volume with the loudest TAB setup.

The 50 Cal creates the oversized look and deep tonal foundation. Your baffle selection determines the final volume, throttle bark, and long-distance character.

Loudest Option

Zombie Baffles

Built for riders who want the loudest and most aggressive version of the 50 Cal. This is the maximum-presence option.

  • TAB’s loudest baffle choice
  • Sharper, more aggressive bark under throttle
  • Greater cruising volume than the louvered setup
  • Best when maximum sound matters more than restraint
Dreaded Iron recommendation: If you are undecided, start with the 2.5-inch louvered baffles. Choose Zombie only when you already know you want the loudest setup.
Check Before Ordering Fitment, Bags and Clearance Touring fitment, Trike exclusion, bag compatibility, and important model notes.

Designed to Fit

  • 1995–2016 Harley-Davidson Touring models
  • 2017-up Harley-Davidson Touring models
  • Road Glide and Road King
  • Street Glide and Electra Glide
  • Ultra and Limited Touring models
  • Standard and factory stretched saddlebags

Does Not Fit

  • Tri Glide
  • Freewheeler
  • Road Glide 3
  • Street Glide 3
  • Other Harley three-wheel platforms
Model-year selection matters: Choose the correct 1995–2016 or 2017-up option before adding the mufflers to your cart. The inlet configuration differs between the two applications.
Aftermarket bags and fenders The 50 Cals are compatible with standard bags, factory stretched bags, and many 4.5-inch aftermarket bags when the motorcycle retains a stock-style rear fender. Stretched bags combined with a stretched fender or fender extension may create fitment problems.
2023.5-up suspension clearance Some newer Touring models use taller rear shocks. Excessive preload can reduce clearance between the muffler and belt tensioner area when the rear suspension is fully extended.
2025 Street Glide Ultra TAB specifies that the 2025 Street Glide Ultra requires a Bullseye-style mounting bracket or equivalent hardware, purchased separately.
CVO heat shields Factory CVO muffler heat shields are not compatible with the 50 Cal mufflers.
International motorcycles Some international 2021-up models use a special gasket between the muffler and head pipe and may require replacement headers for aftermarket muffler fitment.

No Unnecessary Overbuying Do 50 Cal Slip-Ons Require a Tune? What you need for slip-ons alone versus a complete Stage One setup.
Short Answer No tune is normally required for slip-ons alone.

If the rest of the motorcycle remains in its factory configuration, the 50 Cals can generally be installed and ridden without immediately adding a tuner.

A tune becomes more valuable when the mufflers are combined with a freer-flowing intake, replacement head pipe, cam, or other engine changes. At that point, tuning helps match fueling to the complete combination.

Slip-Ons Only Ride Without a Tune

Install the mufflers, choose the sound you want, and upgrade the rest of the system later if desired.

Intake or Header Added Tuning Recommended

Once airflow changes on both sides of the engine, proper tuning helps deliver the best response and overall performance.

What the slip-ons change immediately: Exhaust sound, rear-end appearance, and exhaust flow. Do not expect mufflers alone to perform like a complete tuned engine package.
Before They Arrive Installation, Tips, Shipping and Warranty What comes with the mufflers and what to expect after ordering.
Installation Direct Bolt-On

No cutting or welding is normally required. TAB states that the mufflers install with basic hand tools.

What You Receive Complete Pair

The listed price is for two mufflers with the selected tips and baffles.

Tip Position Rotatable Design

Tips can be rotated in 90-degree increments to change their final position and appearance.

Warranty Limited Lifetime

TAB Performance backs its mufflers with its manufacturer limited lifetime warranty.

Normal tip discoloration: The inside of the exhaust tips can discolor from exhaust heat and gases, often beginning on the left side. This is normal use—not a manufacturing defect.
Shipping: Free shipping is included. Tracking is emailed when the mufflers leave the warehouse.

Hear the Difference

Hear the 50 Cals Before Choosing Your Baffles

The 50 Cal creates the oversized appearance and deep tonal foundation. Your baffle selection determines how controlled—or how aggressive—the finished setup becomes.

Video 01 · 50 Cal Sound Hear the TAB Performance 50 Cals See the installation and hear how the 50 Cals change the motorcycle.

This TAB Performance video shows the physical size of the 50 Cals, the bolt-on installation process, and the deeper exhaust character after installation.

What to look and listen for: The oversized rear profile, deep idle, and stronger exhaust character when the throttle opens.
Video 02 · Baffle Comparison Louvered Versus Zombie Baffles Compare the more controlled setup with TAB’s loudest baffle option.

This independent installation and sound video compares the more controlled medium/louvered configuration with the louder and more aggressive Zombie setup.

Maximum Volume Zombie

TAB’s loudest option, with a harder bark and greater presence at idle, under acceleration, and while cruising.

Dreaded Iron recommendation: Choose the louvered setup for the best balance of deep sound and long-distance use. Choose Zombie when maximum volume is the goal.
Listening note: Phones, speakers, microphones, engine modifications, headers, tuning, and recording conditions all affect perceived exhaust sound. Use these videos to compare character and relative volume—not as an exact measurement of how loud the mufflers will sound beside your motorcycle.

The 50 Cal slip-ons aren’t subtle — and that’s the point.

  • better exhaust flow than stock

 TAB Performance — Rider Questions

Will these be too loud for everyday riding?

Loudness depends mostly on baffle choice, not just the muffler size. The 50 Cals are aggressive under throttle but settle at cruise. Tell us how you ride (long trips, two-up, neighborhood concerns) and we’ll help you pick the right setup.

Do I need a tune with slip-ons?

Not required, but recommended for best throttle response and cooler running. You’ll get sound immediately; tuning helps unlock performance.

Will these fit my year exactly?

Yes — we carry versions for:
✔ 1996–2016 Twin Cam
✔ 2017–Up Milwaukee-Eight
If you’re unsure, we’ll verify before shipping.

Is installation really bolt-on?

Yes. No cutting or welding. Most riders install in the garage in under an hour with basic tools.

How do these compare to other brands?

TAB is known for:

  1. Deep, clean tone (not raspy)
  2. Consistent fitment
  3. Real-world manners at highway speed

Will they work with future upgrades?

Absolutely — they pair perfectly with:

  • intake upgrades
  • cam kits
  • Stage-1 or Stage-2 builds
  • aftermarket headers

Still not sure?

Tap Ask a Rider and tell us:

  • your bike & year
  • how loud you want it
  • solo or two-up
  • future build plans

We’ll help you choose a setup you’ll love 10,000 miles from now — not just on day one.
