Super Shox SR1 Premier Rear Suspension
2017–2025 Harley-Davidson Freewheeler® / Road Glide 3 (RG3)
Long Travel Touring Suspension — Built To Your Setup
Built for Real Trike Load — Not Guesswork
Trikes don’t ride like two-wheel touring bikes.
They carry more weight, handle differently, and require proper suspension setup to stay stable, controlled, and comfortable — especially when riding two-up or carrying gear.
The Super Shox SR1 Premier Trike setup is built specifically for that.
Every set is:
- Hand-built in the USA
- Tuned to your rider + passenger + load
- Designed to improve comfort, control, and long-distance confidence
👉 This isn’t an off-the-shelf shock — it’s built for how you actually ride.
What Makes This Setup Different
Built For Trike Stability
Trikes carry constant rear load.
SR1 Premier shocks are tuned to keep the rear:
- Planted
- Controlled
- Predictable
👉 Not soft, not unstable — just consistent.
Long Travel = Better Ride Quality
This setup uses a 14.5" long-travel shock to increase usable suspension movement.
That means:
- Better absorption over rough roads
- Less harshness on long rides
- More control under load
👉 You feel less impact — and more control.
Rider-Specific Build
Your shocks are built using your exact setup:
- Rider weight
- Passenger weight
- Riding load
- Tour pack / luggage
👉 This is how you get a suspension that actually works — not a generic setup.
⚠️ Exhaust Extension (Included +$175)
This setup includes a required exhaust extension (+$175).
Why it’s needed:
The longer 14.5" shock increases suspension travel.
Without the extension:
👉 The shock can contact the exhaust under compression
The extension ensures:
- Proper clearance under load
- Full use of suspension travel
- Safe, correct operation
👉 This is not optional — it is included to ensure proper fitment.
Real-World Benefits
Riders typically notice:
- Smoother ride over rough roads
- Reduced fatigue on longer trips
- Better control with passenger or gear
- More stable feel overall
👉 Especially important on trikes where weight stays constant.
Installation
- Direct bolt-on shock replacement
- Exhaust extension must be installed for proper clearance
- Professional installation recommended

Why This Setup Is Different Than Earlier Trike Models
If you’re coming from an earlier Tri-Glide (like 2015 and prior), you may notice this setup is different.
That’s because Harley-Davidson changed the rear suspension design on newer trike models.
Earlier models used an air-assisted suspension system, while newer Freewheeler and Road Glide 3 models use a dual shock setup with different mounting and travel characteristics.
Because of these changes, suspension upgrades are not interchangeable between older and newer trikes.
👉 This system is specifically designed for 2017–2025 Freewheeler and RG3 models to ensure proper fitment, clearance, and performance.
Why the Exhaust Extension Is Required
This setup uses a longer 14.5" shock with increased suspension travel.
That added travel allows the suspension to move more over bumps and under load, improving comfort and control.
Because of the longer travel and different geometry of the newer trike models, additional clearance is required to prevent interference.
Without the extension:
👉 The shock can contact the exhaust under compression
The included exhaust extension provides the necessary clearance to allow full suspension movement and safe operation.
