A Rider's Years-Old Idea Becomes Dreaded Iron Moto, a Place to Choose Harley Touring Upgrades Tested on Real Miles

INGLESIDE, Ill., October 22, 2026 – Rocco Cali has ridden Harley-Davidsons for more than 20 years. Years ago, he wished for a place that listed upgrades someone had actually tested on real miles. That idea grew into Dreaded Iron Moto, an online retailer that launched last winter to help Harley-Davidson Touring and Trike riders make the right choice for them on expensive parts.

Cali founded and owns the company, but he doesn't run it alone. Dreaded Iron is a few riders: Kenny, Rick, Russ and Tom ride with him as its crew, and the parts it sells get tested by that group over long, hard miles.

Over the years, Cali spent money on upgrades that looked good on paper but did not fix the real problem. Dreaded Iron Moto works as a decision guide, not a parts catalog. Riders start with their bike, from Road Glide and Street Glide to Tri Glide and Road Glide 3, and with the problem they feel on every ride, such as wind buffeting. Before any order moves forward, one of the crew reviews it and checks fitment.

The company carries a short list of American-made brands: Super Shox rear suspension, built to order in the USA with a limited lifetime warranty; Freedom Shields windshields, made by hand since 2010; TAB Performance exhaust; KST Kustoms handlebars; Dynojet tuning; and RickRak touring luggage. Cali runs what he sells. A Freedom Shields 8-inch medium tint windshield has been on his own bike for almost 10 years.

The site's T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Rides blog shares first-hand trips, including "Colorado on Two Wheels," a six-part series on a roughly 3,000-mile ride from Chicago to Colorado. Cali rode his 2018 Street Glide, Kenny his 2024 Ultra and Rick his 2021 Road Glide, including a climb up Pikes Peak. A rider setups page shows customers' bikes and setups. In its first year, Dreaded Iron Moto has built a social following that already matches some of the brands it carries.
