Start With The Bike — SG3 And RG3 Use Different Windshield Applications

These may both be three-wheel Harley touring models, but their windshield fitment is different. Start with your exact model first, then choose height from your actual riding position — not rider height alone.

2
CONTROL THE AIR

AirCurve Does More Than Height Alone

Freedom's AirCurve recurve is designed to redirect airflow roughly 2–3 inches higher than a conventional windshield.

That helps create cleaner air around the rider and passenger without automatically forcing you into the tallest windshield available.

Less Turbulence Less Helmet Shake Cleaner Airflow
3
THEN CHOOSE HEIGHT

Measure For Your Exact Fairing

RG3 and SG3 use different windshield reference points, so use the measurement method for your exact model instead of comparing size numbers between the two.

Seat height, torso length and posture all affect where the top edge lands in your sightline.

Measurement Guide Below
Made In The USA Handcrafted American-made windshields
Hand-Polished Edges High-gloss finished edges for a premium final finish
30% Thicker Construction Added rigidity, strength and stability
Premium Optical Clarity High-impact modified acrylic with a clear view through the shield
CONFIDENCE BEFORE COMMITTING
Not sure which SG3 or RG3 windshield fits your bike? Send us your year, exact model and a picture of the fairing if needed. We'd rather verify the application before you order than have you end up with the wrong windshield.

SG3 • RG3 WINDSHIELD HEIGHT GUIDE

Same Three-Wheel Category. Different Windshield Measurements.

Street Glide 3 and Road Glide 3 use different fairings and different Freedom Shields applications. Don't compare an SG3 windshield size directly to an RG3 size. Measure using the reference for your exact bike.

STREET GLIDE 3 / SG3

Use The Newer Batwing Measurement

Freedom lists the SG3 with the newer Street Glide Limited / Ultra / SG3 / CVO Limited windshield family.

For choosing rider height: Use the vertical measurement reference shown on that windshield's product page rather than borrowing the RG3 measurement.
1
Confirm SG3 Or RG3 First Start with the exact model. Don't choose from model year alone or assume the two trikes use interchangeable windshield sizing.
2
Sit In Your Normal Riding Position Use your normal seat, bars and posture. Seat height and torso length can move your sightline significantly.
3
Find Where You Want The Top Edge Decide whether you want your normal road view over the top of the shield or whether maximum coverage matters more.
4
Use The Exact Product Diagram Match your measurement to the Freedom Shields diagram on the exact SG3 or RG3 product. Don't transfer a size number from the other model.
MAXIMUM COVERAGE

Look Through The Windshield

A taller windshield can create a larger protected pocket for rider and passenger, particularly on long highway rides.

The tradeoff is that rain, bugs and road grime matter more when your normal sightline passes through the shield.
THREE-WHEEL TOURING

Passenger Comfort Deserves More Weight In The Decision

SG3 and RG3 riders often use these bikes for long-distance touring and two-up riding. A slightly taller or broader wind-management setup can change not only what reaches your helmet, but also the airflow reaching the passenger behind you.

DON'T CHOOSE FROM RIDER HEIGHT ALONE
Two riders who are both 5'10" can still need different windshield heights. Seat position, torso length, posture and bar setup all change where your eyes sit behind the fairing. Measure from the actual bike whenever possible.
IMPORTANT FITMENT REMINDER
RG3 Owners Don't order the redesigned 2024+ two-wheel Road Glide windshield simply because your RG3 is a newer model year.
SG3 Owners Use the dedicated SG3-compatible batwing application shown for your bike rather than assuming another Street Glide shield interchanges.
BETWEEN SIZES OR APPLICATIONS?
Send us the bike information and measurement before guessing. Tell us your year, SG3 or RG3 model, current windshield and measurement. If needed, send a photo of the fairing and we'll help verify the right direction.

WHY FREEDOM SHIELDS?

Built Around The Kind Of Miles SG3 And RG3 Riders Actually Do

Three-wheel touring puts a premium on comfort, stability and keeping both rider and passenger out of turbulent air. Freedom Shields combines its AirCurve recurve, added rigidity and model-specific shaping to create a calmer pocket for long highway miles.

AirCurve Redirects Air Higher Freedom's recurve is designed to push airflow roughly 2–3 inches higher than a conventional windshield, helping move turbulent air away from the helmet zone.
More Rider & Passenger Coverage Cleaner airflow around the fairing can reduce wind pressure and turbulence for both the rider and the passenger behind them.
Thicker, More Stable Construction Freedom uses premium high-impact modified acrylic and builds these shields about 30% thicker than many stock or aftermarket alternatives.
STREET GLIDE 3 / SG3

Wider Upper Coverage For Touring

Freedom's current SG3-compatible windshield is part of the newer Street Glide Limited / Ultra family and is designed with additional upper width for more wind deflection.

That extra upper coverage is especially useful when passenger comfort and long-distance highway protection matter.
THREE-WHEEL TOURING

The Best Windshield Isn't Always The Tallest One

A taller windshield can increase coverage, but shape and airflow matter just as much. Freedom's AirCurve is designed to move the air higher so you can often keep a better view over the top while still getting strong touring protection.

Less Helmet Turbulence Cleaner air at helmet level can reduce shaking and wind noise over long days.
Better Passenger Pocket Moving airflow higher and wider can help reduce the turbulent air reaching the passenger behind you.
Better Sightline Options AirCurve lets you prioritize a comfortable sightline without relying only on maximum windshield height.
HANDCRAFTED IN THE USA

Premium Construction You Can See In The Finished Shield

Freedom Shields are handcrafted in the USA using premium high-impact modified acrylic, then finished with high-gloss hand-polished edges. It's the kind of detail that matters on a premium touring bike.

Made In The USA Handcrafted American-made construction
Hand-Polished Edges High-gloss finished edges
Premium Acrylic High-impact material with excellent optical clarity
5-Year Material Warranty Backed by Freedom Shields' material warranty
WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO IMPROVE?
Helmet Buffeting? Focus first on proper windshield height and where the AirCurve places the airflow relative to your helmet.
Passenger Turbulence? A taller or broader setup may help move more air over and around both occupants instead of only protecting the rider.
STILL NOT SURE?
Tell us whether you're riding an SG3 or RG3 and what you're trying to fix. Send us your year, current windshield, measurement and whether the issue is rider buffeting, passenger turbulence, sightline or highway coverage.

BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE FILM

Confirm The Fit And Height First

Freedom Shields arrive with protective film on the windshield. Leave it in place until you've confirmed the correct application, fit, height and sightline from the saddle. Once the film is removed, an exchange can become much more difficult.

1
Leave The Protective Film On Keep both sides protected while you verify the windshield. Don't peel the film simply because the shield has arrived.
2
Confirm SG3 Or RG3 Fitment These two models use different Freedom Shields windshield families. Make sure the shield matches the exact bike before judging anything else.
3
Check The Sightline From The Saddle Sit in your normal riding position and make sure the top edge falls where you expected it to relative to your normal road view.
4
Then Remove The Film Once you're confident in the fit and height, remove the protective film and enjoy the finished windshield.
DON'T GUESS AFTER THE FILM IS OFF
If the application or height looks questionable, contact us before removing the protective film. It's much easier to fix a possible SG3/RG3 fitment or size issue while the shield is still protected and in like-new condition.
WRONG HEIGHT?
Your first windshield size exchange is on us. Keep the protective film intact and the windshield in like-new condition. If the height isn't right, contact us and we'll help get you into the better size.
QUICK FITMENT REMINDER
Road Glide 3 / RG3 Uses its RG3-compatible Road Glide windshield application. Don't assume the redesigned same-year two-wheel Road Glide shield fits.
Street Glide 3 / SG3 Uses the SG3-compatible newer batwing application. Don't assume every Street Glide windshield shares the same mounting setup.
If you evaluate the windshield on the road before removing the film, only do so when visibility through and around the protected windshield is completely clear and safe.

We'd Rather Help You Get The Right Shield The First Time

SG3 and RG3 windshield fitment is different enough that guessing by model year or comparing windshield sizes can get you into trouble. If you're unsure, send us your year, exact model and measurement before ordering.

SG3 / RG3 Fitment Verified We review the exact bike and windshield application so obvious model or fairing mismatches can be caught before the order moves forward.
Rider-Based Sizing We don't recommend windshield height from your overall height alone. Your seat, torso length, posture and actual sightline matter more.
First Size Exchange Is On Us Keep the protective film intact and the windshield in like-new condition if your first height isn't right.
TWO TRIKES — TWO WINDSHIELD APPLICATIONS
Road Glide 3 / RG3 Uses its RG3-compatible Road Glide windshield family. Don't assume the redesigned same-year two-wheel Road Glide windshield is the same application.
Street Glide 3 / SG3 Uses the SG3-compatible newer batwing windshield family. Match the exact application before choosing height or tint.
