Don't order from model year alone. Street Glide, Electra Glide, Ultra, Limited and CVO models can use different windshield applications depending on the fairing and factory mounting setup.

Measure From The Bike — Not From Rider Height

Your height alone doesn't tell us where your eyes actually sit behind a Street Glide, Electra Glide, Ultra or CVO fairing. Seat height, torso length and riding posture all change your sightline. Measure from your actual bike and normal riding position.

TRADITIONAL BATWING

Street Glide • Electra Glide • Ultra

On the traditional batwing Freedom Shield, the listed windshield size is the exposed height measured up the front center from the top of the fairing to the top edge of the shield.

2024+ NEWER APPLICATIONS

Street Glide • Limited • Ultra • CVO

Newer applications use the specific measurements shown on that product page. Freedom also provides a vertical measurement from the flat dash area in front of the vent to the top of the shield.

Sit Normally On Your Bike Use your normal seat, bars and riding posture. Don't sit unusually tall or slouch just to change the measurement.

Find Your Natural Sightline Look straight ahead as you normally would while riding. Where your eyes sit relative to the top edge matters more than your overall height.

Start Around Tip-Of-Nose Height If you prefer looking over the windshield, Freedom Shields recommends starting with the top edge roughly level with the tip of your nose.

Match The Correct Product Chart Use the measurement diagram on the exact Freedom Shields product for your bike. Don't assume a 10", 12" or 14" windshield from another brand or fairing measures the same way.

Look Over The Shield

Freedom's starting point is roughly tip-of-nose height, leaving approximately 2 inches of visibility over the top while looking straight ahead.

This keeps your normal road view unobstructed while the AirCurve redirects airflow higher over the rider.
MAXIMUM COVERAGE

Look Through The Shield

Freedom recommends roughly 2 inches above your line of sight when maximum wind protection is the priority.

This can provide more rider and passenger coverage, but rain, bugs and road grime become more important when your sightline is through the shield.
DON'T BUY FROM YOUR HEIGHT ALONE
A 5'10" rider does not automatically need the same windshield as another 5'10" rider. Seat changes, torso length, posture, handlebars and even how you sit on longer rides can move your eye position. Use the measurement on the bike whenever possible.

Traditional Batwing Freedom currently offers the traditional Street Glide / Electra Glide / Ultra-style windshield in sizes from approximately 5" through 16", depending on year and application.

Standard Or Touring?

On traditional Street Glide, Electra Glide and Ultra applications where both profiles are offered, the choice is mainly about how much side-to-side wind protection you want.

The Standard profile stays the same width at the base as the factory-style windshield while adding Freedom's AirCurve recurve at the top.

BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE FILM

Make Sure The Height Is Right First

Freedom Shields arrive with protective film on the windshield. Leave it in place until you've confirmed fit, height and sightline. Once the film is removed, exchanging the windshield can become much more difficult.

Leave The Protective Film On Keep both sides protected while you verify the windshield. Don't peel the film simply because the shield has arrived.

Install It And Sit On The Bike Check the shield from your normal riding position using your actual seat, bars and posture.

Verify Your Sightline Make sure the top edge sits where you expected it to. A windshield can look perfect standing next to the bike and feel completely different once you're behind the bars.

Then Remove The Film Once you're confident in the fit and height, remove the protective film and enjoy the finished windshield.
DON'T GUESS AFTER THE FILM IS OFF
If you're unsure about the height, contact us before removing the protective film. It's much easier to help with a possible size change while the windshield is still protected and in like-new condition.
