Super Shox Premium SR2 Rear Shocks
Harley-Davidson Street Glide (2006–Present)

Super Shox SR2 rear shocks are American-made, rider-specific suspension built for Street Glide riders who want better comfort, control, and stability than factory rear shocks can provide.

Instead of pulling a generic shock from a shelf, Super Shox configures each set around your weight, passenger use, luggage, Tour Pack, and normal riding load. The shocks are manufactured, assembled, tested, and dyno-tuned at the Super Shox facility in Grayslake, Illinois.

Dreaded Iron Moto is an authorized U.S. Super Shox retailer. We review your motorcycle and rider information before submitting the build, helping catch incorrect fitment or setup details before production begins.

Most Street Glide Riders Should Start With SR2 LT

SR2 LT is our recommended starting point for most two-wheel Street Glide riders.

The included relocation mounts, one on each side, add usable suspension travel, giving the rear suspension more room to absorb rough pavement while keeping the bike at stock ride height.

Choose SR2 LT if you want:

  • More usable suspension travel

  • Better control over rough or broken pavement

  • Greater support when riding two-up or carrying luggage

  • Reduced harshness and bottoming

  • More long-distance comfort

  • A planted, controlled feel through curves and highway sweepers

Choose SR2 SL if you specifically want:

  • The traditional factory mounting location

  • A simpler stock-mount installation

  • Improved damping and control without the LT relocation system

  • To sit about 1/2 inch lower than stock

LT does not mean a taller shock. A relocation mount on each side adds usable suspension travel while keeping the bike at stock ride height.

Built Around Your Actual Riding Load

Two riders can own the same Street Glide and place completely different demands on their suspension.

A solo rider without luggage does not need the same spring and damping configuration as a rider carrying a passenger, Tour Pack, and several days of gear.

Your Super Shox build is configured using:

  • Street Glide year and model

  • Rider weight with normal riding gear

  • Passenger weight

  • Typical luggage or cargo

  • Percentage of two-up riding

  • Tour Pack use

  • Normal riding conditions

This information does not determine whether you need SR2. It allows Super Shox to select the appropriate spring and damping configuration for the Street Glide and load you already chose.

Super Shox offers an extensive range of spring rates and damping configurations instead of limiting riders to a basic standard-or-heavy shock choice.

What Street Glide Riders Commonly Notice

Compared with factory Harley-Davidson Touring suspension, riders commonly report:

  • Less harshness over expansion joints

  • Better absorption of larger bumps

  • Reduced bottoming

  • Less rear-end kick over choppy pavement

  • Better stability with a passenger or luggage

  • A calmer feel at highway speed

  • Improved cornering confidence

  • Less upper-back and tailbone fatigue during long rides

Actual results depend on the motorcycle, condition of the original suspension, total riding load, selected configuration, and proper preload setup.

American-Made and Dyno-Tuned in Illinois

Super Shox is not an imported shock relabeled for the Harley market.

Its motorcycle suspension is manufactured, assembled, tested, and dyno-tuned in Grayslake, Illinois. The SR2 platform combines American-made construction with spring and damping options selected around real touring loads.

Construction features include:

  • Gas-assisted monotube design

  • Aircraft-grade aluminum components

  • Durable anodized finish

  • High-strength, low-friction shaft

  • Deflective-disc valving

  • Sealed gas chamber

  • Spherical bearing mounts

  • Calibrated preload adjustment

  • Multiple spring-rate and damping configurations

These components are designed to deliver consistent suspension movement and maintain control as pavement, speed, and motorcycle load change.

Deflective-Disc Valving

A shock must allow the rear wheel to react to smaller road imperfections without losing control during larger impacts.

Super Shox uses deflective-disc valving to provide responsive initial movement while maintaining the damping control needed over larger bumps, expansion joints, and repeated rough pavement.

The sealed gas-chamber design also helps reduce cavitation—the formation of bubbles in the shock oil that can make damping less consistent.

Spherical Bearing Mounts

Traditional rubber-style shock mounts can introduce resistance as the suspension moves and the motorcycle leans.

Super Shox uses spherical bearing mounts that allow freer movement at the mounting points. This helps reduce suspension bind and allows the shocks to respond more naturally through corners and uneven pavement.

Tool-Free Preload Adjustment

Street Glide riders rarely carry the same load on every ride.

The calibrated preload adjustment system makes it easier to compensate when changing between:

  • Solo riding

  • Solo riding with luggage

  • Two-up riding

  • Two-up riding with loaded saddlebags

  • Tour Pack and multi-day travel loads

The shocks arrive preset for you and your bike, with a chart that shows exactly where they’re set.

Preload changes compensate for changes in load. They do not replace the correct spring and damping configuration established when the shocks are built.

Installation

SR2 is designed as a bolt-on rear suspension upgrade for compatible Harley-Davidson Street Glide models.

  • SR2 LT: Includes a relocation mount for each side

  • SR2 SL: 13" shock on the stock mounts, using the stock bolt

  • No cutting or permanent frame modification is required

  • Normal preload adjustments do not require special tools

  • Installation instructions and a preload setup chart are included

Always support the motorcycle properly and follow the supplied installation instructions. If you are not comfortable working on motorcycle suspension, installation by a qualified technician is recommended.

Ride Height and Shock Length

Super Shox Touring configurations are described around their intended installed riding stance—not only an unloaded eye-to-eye measurement taken before installation.

An uninstalled shock may measure differently from the motorcycle’s settled ride height after installation. Rider weight, spring configuration, preload, mounting geometry, and proper sag all affect the final stance.

SR2 LT uses a relocation mount on each side to add usable travel while keeping your Street Glide at stock ride height. SR2 SL is a 13" shock that goes on the stock mounts, using the stock bolt.
